Whether you have a particular complaint, or a general unwell feeling, or the problem lies in sensitivities (allergies) to food and chemicals, together we can find the best approach for you as a unique individual using natural, safe methods.
Patients come to see me suffering from a wide range of symptoms including skin conditions, digestive complaints, women's problems, chest problems, heart conditions, low energy, emotional issues, low mood, anxiety, insomnia, bereavement and many others.
Often patients have been through everything that conventional medicine has to offer and, good though it can be, it has failed to help them back to health. Sometimes they have become more ill - perhaps because they reacted badly to the medication on offer. Sometimes there simply is no way of helping with conventional medication. If they are pregnant or on other medication they may not be able to have the conventional treatment. Others decide for a variety of other reasons that they do not want to use conventional medication or need help alongside the medication they are taking which will not interact.
If you are one of these people then homeopathy is a common alternative system which is used by hundreds of thousands of people both here in the UK, all over Europe and in many other parts of the world.
Homeopathic remedies are safe to use alongside conventional medication, herbal remedies and other treatments.
Often used during pregnancy and labour, by parents for babies and children, by adults of all ages suffering from a wide range of physical and emotional conditions and to maintain health and vitality.
Are you wondering if something you are eating or coming into regular contact with is making you ill? You may be or have become sensitive to one or more substances in your diet or environment. Blood tests are good at finding true allergies but I believe that the sensitivity type of allergy that many people seem to develop can sometimes be better found by using other methods and taking a detailed history.
Sensitivity, often known as allergy, to common foods and other substances, can be treated as an indicator that you need some help - perhaps just simple changes to your diet, sometimes only for a short time.
Patients come to see me, from all over Devon and further afield, suffering from a wide range of conditions from minor recurring or chronic problems which get in the way of enjoying life to more serious illness.
Many people have found that after a course of homeopathic medicine they were able to reduce or stop medication or needed to visit their doctors less often. Visit my FAQs page to read more about the research.
As you can already see from this page, homeopathy has a completely different approach to the kind of medicine which doctors practise. Homeopathy starts with how you are experiencing your symptoms. It does not seek to put them into separate boxes and give them different labels because it considers each symptom to be a warning light of an underlying imbalance and it is the underlying imbalance which homeopathy seeks to address with the use of individually selected remedies.
When you use homeopathy you are looking to improve your body's ability to deal with what life throws at it by ensuring it works as well as possible. That means that if it has been knocked "off balance" it needs some help to restore that balance so that it can cope with life.
You can be knocked off balance by all sorts of things - a nasty bug, stress, emotional upset, poor diet, lack of exercise and fresh air, accidents. Whether symptoms are emotional or physical a homeopath uses them as indicators to find a remedy which matches your particular experience of them so even if no-one is quite sure what illness labels your symptoms should have, a homeopath can still look for that match.
For years Homeopaths and Naturopaths have been saying that a fever is your body's natural way of dealing with illness and as long as it doesn't go too high it should be allowed to take its course. New research supports this view:
Doctors are trained to bring down a fever as quickly as possible—but new research has found that drugs like ibuprofen and paracetamol increase the rate of flu by 5 per cent, and cause an additional thousand deaths each year in North America alone.
Fever is the body’s natural defence mechanism against flu and colds. It protects us, and reduces the risk to others, says David Earn, at McMaster University in Canada.
It isn’t just doctors who want to bring down fevers. We do as well, as sales of drugs like ibuprofen, aspirin and paracetamol demonstrate. But all that the drugs do is interfere with the body’s natural processes, and they could be causing tens of thousands of extra cases of flu cases, and even deaths. Suppressing fever increases the number of annual flu cases by around 5 per cent, Earn estimates, and leads to around a thousand additional deaths from flu every year in North America.

Of course against this we must remember that if the temperature goes too high that too can kill - and these drugs can be life savers especially when other methods have failed. It is about using them at the right time and in the right place. Some people use homeopathic remedies as a first resort. Commonly used remedies are Belladonna and Aconite but there are a number of others, too.
